Noriyoshi Takemura, Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at Tion University, Yokohama, Japan visited the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation on 6th August 2018. He is conducting a study grounded in Climate Change and Conflict, specifically “Climate Change Related Drought and Flood Fluctuations, Socio-Ecological System Destabilization and Conflict Nexus in East Africa.” His study will cover how climate change is affecting Kenyans and some of the resulting conflicts as a result. Emphasis will be on rainfall induced environmental degradation, food insecurity, migration and conflict/violence’.

Professor Shem Wandiga welcomed the Professor to the Institute and gave him access to the publications that the institute has produced in this area. Professor Takemura will visit Amboseli and the Maasai Mara to see conflict areas that have arisen as a result of Climate Change.
