The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the strategic value of Centre of Excellence to the University of Nairobi, Strategic aim of ARUA-CD and the Potential for University of Nairobi co-funding.

University of Nairobi is a member of African Research Universities  Alliance (ARUA) and Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA) was submitted as hub by the University.

ARUA-CD Partners Meeting

University of Nairobi has an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Cape Town which is the Secretariat of ARUA and The African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) at the University of Cape Town.

ARUA-CD has three research foci:

Research Focus 1: Enhancing knowledge systems for climate resilience- UoN-ICCA is a lead for East Africa

Research Focus 2: Sustainable energy for poverty reduction-UCT is the lead for South Africa

Capacity Development

Focus 3: Next-generation researchers and practitioners-UG is the lead for West Africa

Prof. Mark George New-Pro-Vice Chancellor University of Cape Town lead a team of ARUA-CD team from his university, University of Ghana, Legon and ICCA to visit the Vice Chancellor
