The Director, Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation Prof. Shem Wandiga gave welcome remarks at the Development Corridors Partnership (DCP) stakeholders meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel held on 4th April 2019. The Conference was opened by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi who was represented by Prof. Madara Ogot, Ag Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research Innovation and Extension).

Prof. Shem Wandiga Director, ICCA said to the Participants that " This project hopes to harness the scientific knowledge that may help the posterity of the project and increase the resilience of the people living along the LAPSSET line". 

It is part of the project which was officially launched in November 2018 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and is led by UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre and implemented by the University of Nairobi (Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation) and the African Conservation Centre, Nairobi and supported by a team of postdoctoral research scientists. The project will be implemented within and around the areas covered by the SGR and LAPSSET corridors in Kenya.

Aim of the stakeholder's Workshop.

(i) Generate decision-relevant evidence related to challenges facing development corridor processes in East Africa and feed it into key decision-making processes to promote the sustainable outcomes of investments in development corridors.

(ii) Build capacities in addressing and mitigating development corridors challenges.
