First Workshop of The Mikoko Project: Conservation and Resilience of Kenya's mangrove Forests Held on 10th-14th September ,2019

Professor Shem O. Wandiga, Director of the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (University of Nairobi), moderating a working group on research.

The Director Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation Prof. Shem Wandiga was invited to participate in the Mikoko Project: Conservation and Resilience of Kenya's Mangrove Forests Executed by Kenya Forest Services, French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD ), and the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development ( CIRAD). Prof. Shem Wandiga attended as a co-investigator. The workshop took place in Lamu, from 10th -14th September 2019.

This first workshop brought together more than 80 scientists from 4 continents, with a program as ambitious and comprehensive as the project, specialist of deltas at IRD, based in Mozambique. Workshops, discussions and working groups punctuated the three-day seminar with participants contributing the abundant and rich experience of scientists from Cameroon, Mozambique, Mexico, Indonesia, India, New-Caledonia and the forest conservators from all coastal counties of Kenya.
