Human Dimensions and Health

Overview

Overview

Changes in Rainfall and Temperature associated with climate change are expected to increase incidences of the occurance of extreme weather events that have impacts on the health of human populations through:

-Poor air quality caused by the production of ground level ozone resulting in the increase in the occurance of chronic lung disease.

-Inhalation of fine particle matter resulting from chemical reactions in the atmosphere.

-Favourable conditions affecting disease-causing pathogens.

-Increase in food-borne disease.

-Affecting agricultural output thereby causing malnutrition and other related diseases
