#ClimateTalks Student Forum Earth Day, April 22nd 2022 AEST

The International Universities Climate Alliance is inviting student representatives from across our 56 universities globally to join a global virtual #ClimateTalks Student Forum during Earth Day on April 22nd 2022. Earth Day has been celebrated globally for more than 50 years and is an event dedicated to promoting awareness of the health of our environment.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT ON THE IMPACTS OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR ON PLANETARY HEALTH

On 23 March 2022, the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA), the University of Nairobi and The Mawazo Institute co-hosted in-person presentations and a plenary session. This event explored scientific approaches, critical research, and transformative practices that can help better understand planetary health and its implications for the African continent.

THE NATURE CONSERVANCY: 400 TREES PLANTED AT CHIROMO CAMPUS ON 19TH MAY, 2021.

The University has partnered with Kenya Forest Service and Equity Group to plant over 5000 seedlings across all campuses. The college planted 400 seedlings with the help of students and staff from all the Departments. Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA) was represented by Mr. James O. Kaoga and Ms. Martha Mugo.

ICCA STUDENT SELECTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS WRITING WORKSHOP

The Institute for Climate and Adaptation is pleased to announce that Jackson Wachira, a current PhD student at the institute, is among the 68 PhD students and Young Researchers from the ‘global south’ admitted to the 3rd Annual Write-shop in Critical Agrarian Studies and Scholar-Activism organized and sponsored by the Journal of Peasant Studies (JPS) together with other institutions that focus on critical agrarian studies.

ARUA- CD ONLINE WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE CHANGE CURRICULA FROM  27th May to 1 June 2021

The University of Nairobi , represented by the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA) in Collaboration with the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Climate and Development (ARUA-CD) Project will be hosting an online workshop which will be convened for four days from Thursday 27 May to Tuesday 1 June (i.e. 27 May, 28 May, 31 May and 1 June) with ±30 lecturers from southern, west and east Africa. 

INTERSOL ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON APRIL 12 & 13 FROM 8.00 TO 13.30 GMT

Dr Catherine Sang a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation, will be presenting about " Preliminary assessment of water resources in the SGR corridor: Impacts and options at the InterSol Annual Conference on April 12 & 13, from 08.00 to 13.30 GMT.

This year’s theme is Nature-based Solutions, Gender Equity and Inter- connectivity for Climate Resilience in Africa.
